Ganesh Chaturthi 2018: Eco-friendly Ganpati Lekar Aao, Propagate Anushka Sharma-Varun Dhawan

People are chanting and dancing: Ganpati Bappa Morya. Many Bollywood B-Town celebs have been promoting the use of eco-friendly Ganpati idols. We got up to see Rakesh Bapat doing it in Bombay Times. Great gesture. Awareness about the dangers of using POP (Plaster Of Paris) idols is important. If you visit any beach in Mumbai and see the POP idols lying scattered and broken in pieces on the sands even after they have been immersed, you will feel extremely embarrassed and guilty. It is good to see that now Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan have joined to bell the cat.

Anushka and Varun, who await Sui Dhaaga together- their next film produced by Yash Raj-  took to Instagram to share a video wherein the two are showing how a biodegradable Ganpati can be made using Sui and Dhaaga. Anushka writes, “Celebrating this auspicious occasion with a beautiful eco-friendly Bappa made with Dhaaga #GaneshChaturthi @varundvn.” Isn’t that an unique strategy of promoting their film and also a good cause of using biodegradable Ganpati? The trailer of Sui Dhaaga created ripples when it was launched online. The buzz is strong and the film is expected to do well at the ticket windows. Also, Anushka and Varun have a great bond of friendship and respect for each other, which was so visible when we caught up with them a few days ago (Watch this space for the interview of Anushka and Varun with SpotboyE.com, coming up soon).

While Varun plays the role of Mauji- a tailor in the film, Anushka is seen as Varun’s wife in Sui Dhaaga, which will hit theatres on September 28. Sui Dhaaga, mainly shot in Chanderi, Bhopal and Delhi, is directed by Sharat Katariya. Rumour has it that the film is based on the Make in India campaign launched by the Indian government in 2014, aimed at promoting the country's indigenous textile industries.
